PHP Ecosystem
PHP has been decisively advancing the development of the World Wide Web as one of the most important online applications for some 25 years. The programming language is therefore our constant companion as the language of choice for the implementation of efficient and powerful online applications. The Marketing Factory has been following and accompanying the development of PHP since its inception.
PHP is constantly evolving with the result that a new version of PHP is released every year with new features, performance improvements and the latest approaches. Each PHP version is supported for a total of 3 years (2 years: bug & security updates + 1 year: critical security updates).
PHP and the open-source approach go hand in hand: the key components we use – TYPO3, Shopware and Symfony – are completely server-based on PHP and are available as "free software". Different projects and companies came together in 2022 and founded the PHP Foundation as a non-profit organisation to be able to continue the open-source approach with PHP in future.
As we benefit enormously from the large number of high-quality, open-source PHP libraries, it is natural for us to wish to give back to the community to the same extent. For instance, we have been running a GitHub Organisation Account for several years, in which we publish various projects, mostly libraries and tools written in PHP. Our developers are also actively working on diverse open-source projects or releasing them themselves.
