DDoS Protection
What is DDoS protection?
DDoS protection monitors data traffic 24/7 at various points on the internet and automatically initiates appropriate defence measures in the event of attacks. A system like this uses different automatic and manual systems to detect an attack, so that it can be detected and stopped in good time.
This requires a correspondingly large and powerful defence system as the attackers use large botnets: DDoS protection uses a globally distributed infrastructure, so-called scrubbing centres, in which the malicious traffic is rendered harmless and never reaches the target system.
What is a DDoS attack?
The term "DDoS" means Distributed Denial of Service. The attacker’s main objective is to overload a service or website, making it unreachable or distracting from a targeted attack. Consequences vary depending on the size and context of the site, but include downtime, data theft, and large financial losses or high costs associated with high bandwidth consumption. Neither should the resulting damage to the company’s image be underestimated.
Individual routers or firewall systems are limited in their ability to block genuine DDoS attacks, and sooner or later will be overwhelmed themselves.
The number and size of the botnets used for attacks is growing, as is the number of DDoS attacks, which are increasingly spreading to all services on the network. Every month we see several attacks on the systems we protect with DDoS Protection.
What is the relevance of DDoS Protection in web projects?
We believe that additional DDoS Protection is useful for all business-critical websites and apps. This additional protection should also be deployed for services advertised externally: if a website cannot be accessed during a marketing campaign, a lot of money will be spent on traffic that cannot be used.
DDoS Protection can help to prevent financial damage and damage to a company's image, and ensure that your website and user data are protected.
What do we do to protect your systems against these attacks?
Appropriate DDoS Protection is in place to secure all the key systems in our infrastructure (such as routers and switches). We can also secure our clients' servers with DDoS Protection. We simply agree the technical details with our clients and then set up DDoS Protection accordingly.
The CDN systems we use are directly protected by DDoS Protection.
