Central management of all safety-related data sheets
As a manufacturer of chemical products, our client Ecolab is obliged to provide material safety data sheets for all products. Material safety data sheets are intended for commercial users and include information on the properties and safe handling of the substance.
To enable Ecolab to offer these data sheets online as well, Marketing Factory has developed an application that allows users to search and download the required data sheet quickly and easily by simply entering the product name or product code. This application is available in their respective languages to over 20 countries in the frontend. An interface to the central systems in the USA and an automated synchronisation routine in the backend keep the material safety data sheets up to date at all times. With an individually developed backend module for TYPO3, the responsible product managers in the national companies now have a convenient tool for managing the data sheets relevant to their market.
Ecolab is obliged to keep these material safety data sheets for its products accessible to all users and to ensure that the material safety data sheets are up to date. Material safety data sheets for all relevant markets must be available in the official national language.

Project details
The implementation of the Ecolab MSDS Material Safety Data Sheet search is based on TYPO3 8.7. TYPO3 is ideal for this project due to its extensive content management features and dedicated, granular access rights. However, in this case TYPO3 is used primarily as a framework and not as a tool for content management, as this aspect is largely automated.
TYPO3 offers Ecolab product managers various features in the backend, such as the option of manually deactivating data sheets. Product managers can also view and export key figures on data sheet usage (search queries, downloads etc.) in the backend.
