Community Initiatives
TYPO3 Business Control Committee
The TYPO3 project is predominantly funded by the TYPO3 Association in Switzerland. Membership fees are used to further develop the software and establish and support the community.
The task of the Business Control Committees (BCC) is to monitor the Association's work to ensure that it is in the interests of its members. This involves, among other things, reviewing and evaluating its expenditure and the success of teams and projects. As of 2022 the BCC is also responsible for organising and overseeing the annual selection process for projects to be supported. One of the BCC's main tasks is to increase transparency for members.
Ingo Schmitt has been a member of the BCC since 2011, and Chair since 2013.
TYPO3 Marketing Team
Developers and techies can contribute to the TYPO3 community, as can project managers, designers, managers or marketers. After all, even the best product does not sell itself.
Our Senior Project Manager Luisa Faßbender has been involved in the TYPO3 Marketing Team since 2018, and has led the team as Marketing Team Lead since 2019.
The TYPO3 Marketing Team is made up of members of the TYPO3 Association and community who are passionate about raising awareness of TYPO3 and contributing to the project in a non-technical way. Their overriding aim is to generate sales and marketing resources to help others understand what TYPO3 is, and to help members and agencies promote and sell TYPO3.
TYPO3 is a highly complex, technical project that requires extensive explanation on a non-technical level. Anyone using TYPO3 should be able to clearly communicate its strengths and differentiators. The aim of the marketing team is to increase acceptance of TYPO3 and expand its community of developers, marketers and managers.
Some results from the last few years
In recent years, the Marketing team has, among other things, created all the release materials for the TYPO3 versions 10.4 LTS and 11.5 LTS developed the extensive Comparison Cards, which compare the features of TYPO3 against its best-known competitors, and also developed the content distribution concept for typo3.org and typo3.com.
Rhine-Ruhr TYPO3 camp (T3CRR)
The T3CRR is one of many barcamps focusing on TYPO3. It is held every year at the start of November, usually in the Unperfekthaus venue in Essen. In recent years, some 250 people have attended the camp. It was conducted as an online barcamp for the first time during 2021, the year of the coronavirus.
The Barcamp is organised by the TYPO3 User Group RhineRuhr e.V., with volunteers from the community making up the organising team. There are always a number of MFC employees who volunteer to help organise the TYPO3 camp alongside User Group Chair Ingo Schmitt. Marketing Factory is also a long-time Platinum Sponsor.
