Visiting a client at embedded world in Nuremberg
It is important for us to know our clients and their market and target groups well. This knowledge is the basis for better understanding our clients' requirements in order to develop tailor-made solutions. Trade fairs at which our clients exhibit are a perfect opportunity to gain an impression of the market environment. For our client SEGGER Microcontroller GmbH, embedded world in Nuremberg is the leading trade fair. So we (Christian Spoo und Ingo Schmitt) traveled to Nuremberg to get a better overview of the industry and to visit the SEGGER team at their booth.
About the embedded world
According to its own description, the embedded world Exhibition&Conference is the industry meeting place for the embedded community. It offers an insight into the world of embedded systems: from components and modules to operating systems, hardware and software design, M2M communication, services and the numerous issues involved in complex system design. The embedded world is a trade fair for professionals only.
We liked the SEGGER booth very much, important products were presented using hardware demos and the development and debugging tools were shown directly in use. On closer inspection, we recognized a few elements in the booth design that we had recently designed for the website.
During our trade fair tour, we were also able to recognize SEGGER products or the SEGGER logo on some other booths. It was great to see how well-established our client is in the embedded industry.
We take the impressions gained directly as a supplement to the proto personas, that we have just created for the project - a website relaunch combined with an upgrade to TYPO3 version 12:
- Facts and data are important. Some of the personas we are looking at need to be able to identify these quickly. We need to take this into account even more and clearly highlight the important information.
- Even the absolute experts have relatively frequent questions about the products. These need to be answered on the web. Corresponding links to support information must be prominently placed on the website to guide users quickly.
