Shopware Community Day 2022 – a hybrid class reunion
Three years lie between the last on-site Shopware Community Day (SCD) at Landschaftspark in Duisburg (2019) and the hybrid Shopware Community Day in Ahaus (2022). Because of the COVID contact restrictions, Shopware held some outstanding online events. This year, you could decide whether you wanted to attend the event on-site again or still prefer to participate from home.
Together with our developer Dennis Schwengler, I took the opportunity to participate in the Community Day on-site in Ahaus.
At my first post-COVID event, the 2G+ status was checked in detail - there was also the possibility for a rapid test in a nearby test center. At this point, a thumbs up directly!
The event on the Tobit Campus was split into three tracks: Inspiration, Experience and Tech Stage. While I watched the Inspiration and Experience Stage talks, Dennis listened to the more technical presentations.
After the keynote - which of course presented the new features and the roadmap of Shopware 6, among other things - various, more general topics were covered on the main stage as inspiration. Unfortunately, the keynote ran a bit over time, which in turn had to be caught up by in the following talks. The Open Commerce Talk unfortunately came up a bit short. Too bad.
I especially enjoyed the talks on the Inspiration Stage by Laura Winterling and Magnus Lindkvist. All niche shop owners should take a look at the talk.
The presentation of the PayPal checkout on the Experience Stage was somewhat boring. After all, the checkout offers a great advantage for smaller shops that do not want to integrate many payment providers. Large shops, on the other hand, should consider whether they want to commit to a payment provider.
